The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has recently concluded and the inclusion of two more franchises in the tournament has only added more feathers to its cap. In the latest development, Rajasthan Cricket Association has written a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and has sought permission to organise Rajasthan Premier League in September.

The league will have six to eight teams on a franchise model where top businessmen and stakeholders of the state will buy the rights to own and operate the teams. The matches will happen in Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium and the newly built stadium of Jodhpur. RCA President Vaibhav Gehlot has reportedly held an important meeting with members of the national executive in this regard.

RCA Vice President Amin Pathan has written a letter to BCCI, seeking permission for the same. "Cricket's popularity is skyrocketing. After an incredible performance by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2022, we believe that people in the state are highly motivated and want to witness such a tournament at the state level as well. We will ensure that our local boys participate in the tournament with active participation from renowned businessmen and stakeholders in the state," he said.

He further informed that the league will have teams which will be named after the names of cities of Rajasthan. The league, which will last for about 20 days, will have 31 matches including the final. It is believed that a foreign player will serve as a mentor for each team. In the league, only players of Rajasthan will get a chance and players will be auctioned.
